Goldfinches

The Summer is here and the plumage on the Goldfinches is quite dramatic. Flocks appear everywhere feeding on the long grasses. I used my new bean-bag to rest the lens on and feel the shots are greatly improved by eliminating camea shake. Tell me what you think?

  1. Great photos! See the birdlife breathing when flying over the Lake Eyre. Scenic flights are available: http://www.adelaidesightseeing.com.au/lakeeyre.html

  2. They are beautiful shots, especially that third one.

  3. Easier to compare 2nd Goldfinch with Lesser Redpoll in same pose (was it the same tree as well as diffused background?). Goldfinch is certainly very sharp but, somehow, the same level of sharpness on the Lesser Redpoll might have distracted from the bird. Great shots anyway. And how about the new Beanbag"; was it made by lady wife and with what size did you end? I also presume that the bag was placed on the opened car window. Did much the same when shooting the Hoopoe at nest but used my soft sun hat! Now Jenny has made me a bag, I must find some suitable material with which to fill because, on short trips, I am not convinced re using rice, nevermind carrying the extra weigh about.
    Well done again Mark!
